5 Things You Should Know About The Golden Deficit
By Joni Parker
- The idea for the Golden Harvest came from The Hunger Games, but instead of sacrificing children, the Elves gave gold as a tribute.
- When I was a teenager, I taught myself how to play the guitar, so I thought I could write a song with a guitar accompaniment. It wasn’t as easy I thought it would be, but I did it. Please don’t ask me to sing it.
- A friend of mine encouraged me to join her “society” group as a teenager, but I was rejected because I didn’t belong in the same social group. My family wasn’t rich enough, and we weren’t white. So, I used this group’s snobbery and pettiness as a basis for the Nymphets.
- I’ve always been fascinated by Jacques Cousteau and his underwater explorations. I love to swim, and I’ve been snorkeling, but never scuba diving. I thought salvaging gold from underwater may be a good way to make up the deficit.
- Many people suffer from allergies, some of which can be deadly. That was the premise I used for the zylik plants.
Book Blurb
Lady Alex, the Elfin Keeper of the Keys for the Council of Elders, begins an epic adventure when she returns to the magical land of Eledon. The final talley of the Golden Harvest is in, and it’s far from the hundred million gold knots required. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the deficit is even larger, caused by the deceitful Rock Elves. These cunning creatures have been paying other Elves with fake gold knots for years, and no one had a clue until now. The Mentors demand the Elves pay the five million knot deficit in ninety days, but no one has any gold left. The pressure is on, and everyone is at a loss for how to come up with the gold, until Lady Alex devises a brilliant plan. But it will require equipment and expertise the Elves don’t have, and time is running out. Can she gather what she needs and save Eledon from financial ruin before it’s too late?
