# First Chapter Reveal

First Chapter Review: HOLLYWOOD UNDERWORLD by Lindy S. Hudis #firstchapterreview #Hollywood Underworld

I love doing these first chapter reviews. Not only do I not have much time to read an entire book these days, but it gives me a glimpse into what the book is going to be about. If I like the first chapter, I'll do whatever it takes to find the time to read the rest. Today's first chapter review is no exception. Today I'll be reviewing the first chapter of Lindy S. Hudis' Hollywood Underworld!

Title: HOLLYWOOD UNDERWORLD
Author: Lindy S. Hudis
Publisher: Project X Publishing
Pages: 203
Genre: Crime Thriller

Nick Savage was supposed to be the next sexy Hollywood heartthrob, until he turned up dead…

His personal manager, Dani Foxx, is a seductive former actress with spunk, guts and a take-no-prisoners attitude. She lives in the Woodland Hills section of the San Fernando Valley with her teenage daughter. They must survive and protect each other in the world’s most glamorous and sin-filled city. Then an unidentified body discovered under the Santa Monica pier is found to belong to the up-and-coming young actor.

Dani’s partner, the dashing and charismatic A.J. Tarentella, is the son of a mob boss, raised in a ruthless crime family. He now is the proud owner of the Tarantella Agency, a Private Investigation Company located in the heart of Beverly Hills. He used his father’s work ethic, connections and family ties to build his powerful business empire, and now he is always there to help those in need.

When another gorgeous nubile actress on the brink of getting her breakout role mysteriously vanishes as the body of a beautiful young girl is discovered in Runyon Canyon Park in the Hollywood Hills, Dani realizes this is no coincidence. Who is targeting young Hollywood stars? And more importantly, how can Dani stop them before the next body surfaces?

Together, A. J. and Dani find themselves tangled in a web of organized crime, Hollywood secrets, and a vengeful faded movie star with a lethal vendetta.

FAVORITE QUOTE FROM FIRST CHAPTER:

It was so hard to pick but this one caught my eye:

“Fair?! What’re you, KIDDING me?! If life was fair, we wouldn’t need a Department of Justice, would we?”

I thought it was rather funny because this is mother talking to daughter and haven't we all come up with just the right zinger to make our point?

I liked this one too...

“This town loves a good virgin once in a while, right…? About time for one now, maybe…” Barbara let the hint hover for a while.

Barbara is a casting director and a good friend of the main character and I thought that was a really good line. She's referring to people who have never acted before I think?

BOOK COVER:

Provocative! Not only do I love the black and white color scheme but the people on the front look dangerously wicked.

FIRST CHAPTER REVIEW:

What a first chapter! We meet the main character, Dani Foxx, among others. We even get a tidbit of a conversation with her and her daughter over the phone - daughter wants to come home from school and mama nixes it in the bud. We also meet her flamboyant assistant with whom she gets along well with. Dani is a no nonsense type of character/woman who has worked hard to get where she's gotten - she owns a talent agency. The opening scene in this first chapter we have Dani very very busy - when she's not on the phone with prospective clients looking for their way into Tinseltown via her talent agency, she's seeing clients in person or talking about clients with her friend Barbara, also a casting director. The very end of this chapter shows a little bit more sinister side to the book which gets the ball rolling on how wicked Hollywood is with people being sold and the darknet is talked briefly about.

Okay, wow, the last part of the first chapter really has me in suspense now. I knew the book was going to head into the seedy part of Hollywood, but that part started me thinking about which direction it was going. I would definitely keep reading. I've heard good things about this book. After all, it is a crime thriller! I would be interested to see where Hudis goes with this. Definitely on my TBR list!
