Thanks for visiting Literarily Speaking! Today's post is a first chapter review for I WILL RUIN YOU: THE TWISTED TRUTH BEHIND THE KIT MARTIN MURDER TRIAL, Emilio Corsetti III's latest nonfiction true crime book. First, a little about the book....

Title: I WILL RUIN YOU: THE TWISTED TRUTH BEHIND THE KIT MARTIN MURDER TRIAL
Author: Emilio Corsetti III
Publisher: Wild Blue Press
Pages: 420
Genre: True Crime Nonfiction

Moments before boarding a passenger flight on 11 May 2019 as the first officer, pilot Christian “Kit” Martin, a former army ranger, was arrested by a swarm of heavily armed officers for the murders of three of his neighbors. The arrest captured global attention as Martin’s mugshot, clad in a pilot’s uniform, spread across the internet, sparking a media firestorm with headlines such as “Monster in the Cockpit.”

A combat helicopter pilot, Kit Martin had seen his life unravel after seeking a divorce. His wife’s threatening words, “If you leave me, I will ruin your life …,” overheard by his daughter, seemed to have become a grim reality, escalating to a court-martial and culminating in a high-stakes murder trial at which he was convicted.

I WILL RUIN YOU: The Twisted Truth Behind the Kit Martin Murder Trial delves into the complex circumstances behind Martin’s story. It looks beyond the sensational headlines and legal turmoil into the heart of this controversial case.

FAVORITE QUOTE FROM FIRST CHAPTER:

“If you divorce me, I will ruin your career,” Joan snarled. “I will ruin your life, and I know how to do it.”

BOOK COVER:

I looooove the book cover. Love the colors, love the dog tags, love the fire.

FIRST CHAPTER REVIEW:

Women can be so mean or should I say wives who fall out of love with their husbands for whatever reason can be so mean. Downright evil. Chapter one gives us some background on Kit Carson, his wife, Joan, and their kids, Elijah, Essie, Alma and McKenzie. Sort of like the Brady Bunch only these people were a far cry from The Brady Bunch. And a little tidbit or two about Kit's ex-wife is thrown in, not sure if she'll surface at some point but it's just something else that Joan loves to argue about. Not saying that Kit doesn't have any faults, but I already don't like Joan and it seems that Kit's story is true where hers is fabricated. To get even. When he told her he wanted a divorce, she proceeds to call 911 to complain about domestic violence which never happened. So this chapter ends with her having done that and I guess we're waiting for the cops to get there.

Whew, I already know this is going to be exciting. I imagine the next chapter has the cops arriving. Will there be a scene? Will Kit get arrested? I mean, I know he does but what are the circumstances leading up to his arrest for murder? Stay tuned. Yes, I would keep reading!
