Favorite Quote:
"When they were finally released from the hospital, the cold night air hit her face, but the fresh air did nothing to clear the disjointed images in her mind. As Edward helped her into the car, his hand brushed against hers, and once again, it happened: a flash, this time sharper, more vivid than before. Her father, much younger, was laughing in what she somehow knew was her grandparents’ backyard, climbing a tall oak tree. He was high up, higher than he should’ve been. Then, he slipped. She saw him fall, crashing to the ground in a crumpled heap, lying motionless on the grass below."
First Chapter Review:
It's Christmas and it's snowing. Elouise and her family are attending her Christmas concert in which she is a soloist. Things are going great until they leave and get into an awful accident. On the way to the hospital, Elouise's heart stops. They revive her and as soon as her mother kisses her, a flash and a burst of light pierces Elouise's mind. She now sees her mother, much younger, standing in a hospital room just like the one she's in now. Her mother is cradling a tiny baby and weeping softly. Then just as quick as the image appeared, it disappeared. A nurse goes to draw blood and Elouise gets another flash only this time the nurse was outside tossing a ball to a golden retriever. Then the vision disappears. It was like she was able to see past life experiences with people as soon as they touched her. Whoa. I've never read a premise like this; very original! Each time someone would touch her, she'd get a vision of them in a past life or an earlier life experience. How weird that must have been for her. It gives new meaning to when people say, "Don't touch me!". It was so confusing for her and that's where the chapter ends.

I have got to read on. Karen Charles has woken a whole story around this fantastic premise and I would love to see where her imagination takes us. Great writing and what a page turner. Great first chapter and indeedy do I am going to keep reading!
I give this first chapter a 5 star rating!
