5 Things You Should Know About Weeks Book 1
1. WEEKS was originally a game played by me, my brother, and our friend Katie. It only became a book whenever I decided to sit down and write out our adventures. For about two years the three of us played out WEEKS, and for a good 10+ years, I spent writing it and rewriting it.
2. Two of the names of the main characters are Phil and Tim. But before that, as the game the three of us played, I named my character Tim and my brother named his Phil. They only got switched around because I forgot which one I picked. But not looking at them, there is no way I can conceive of their names switching. They stuck and remain.
3. There is a moment in the book, where our three protagonists find themselves in the middle of a large body of water (that’s all I’ll say). This very moment was inspired by an indoor waterpark we all went to while down in Branson. A few days later while on the road home, with a torrential downpour falling on us, I was listening to Dokken’s Into the Fire. All this combined led to what you’ll read about in those chapters.
4. Phil, our main protagonist, is quad-lingual. He is fluent in English, Romanian, and Russian. He also knows Latin. This reflects his history during the Second Cold War, an event that occurs before the start of the story. Dakota, another main protagonist, is dual-lingual fluent in both English and Brazilian Portuguese. Tim, our third main character, is the only one to know just one language, English.
5. WEEKS Book One does have a long exposition. While I understand contemporary disposition’s to such things, I couldn’t help it. I’m a big fan of such things, as are others, the Lord of the Ring’s, The Fellowship of the Ring movie being a prime example. I just find something captivating about it. That being said, Book One will be the only one to feature a long exposition. But I hope you’ll find enjoyment in the exposition and what I try to set up with it.
